I found a forum thread on vmware.com which indicates to me that ideafarm is very much NOT a VMware item. It would be pretty crazy for them to install two things that fight over a port, now wouldn't it? The thread mentions that ideafarm has been encountered in several distros, including openSUSE.
There is also a reference somewhere to "www.ideafarm.com" but that yields no information - dns entries do exist but at this time the site is unresponsive.
My advice is this: locate the entries (/etc/services) for it and take them out, then restart.
Using the google "cached" feature on a search for just "ideafarm" (without the '-chat') I found some stuff, and all that follows (except joea's original message) is from that:
IdeaFarm (tm) Operations
Connecting People Wholesomely
Your Thoughts: With one exception, you will not be subjected to thought steering while viewing this web site. No third party ads will appear. No part of any page is designed to imprint a desire or an idea onto your mind. Ads for products and services offered here are designed to inform, not to imprint. The sole exception is that the trademarks used by IdeaFarm (tm) Operations will imprint.
fearful: I want this web site to supply me with a tool that I can use to get job interviews, close sales, or expand my circle of business associates, so that I can feel my economic power and determine my own economic situation, rather than be helplessly dependent upon government and only two paychecks away from being homeless.
lonely: I want this web site to invite me to join a brotherhood/sisterhood of unselfish people who meet weekly for dinner, so that I can fill my life with real community, true friends (the "friends for life" kind of friends), business associates who won't stab me in the back, and maybe even true love and a marriage that endures for a lifetime.
visionary: I want to test drive the operating system that will destroy the Microsoft monopoly, drastically simplify computer programming while making it lots more fun, and spark a software craft "golden age" that will "connect people wholesomely" globally.
Anyone know what ideafarm-chat is? In a standard sles 10 install it installs and uses port 902, causing vmware server to use another port.
Not a big deal, but some google ing suggests it is part of vmware.
Enlightenment?
